Meeting of 240GDs
It was good to see Dentsmithy ( Chris) today in his 240GD imported into the UK before any UK sales built within the first six months of production sat next to my Norwegian Army 240GD there were loads of small production differences , radiator mounts , number of prop shaft bolts ,cut out below the bonnet , all good fun
As far as we know these are the only 240GDs in the UK , unless you know different??
Twas a good day
Twodogs
nice one
Keep up the good work guys
Very nice. Proper G's.
Yes Mark, you are right, there is a certain honesty about them - the original design in it's purest form. Who needs more than 66BHP
hi cliff. you are 100% right .the original 460 G built for a purpose not a marketing ploy !
BTW, your wolf is looking good mate.
is chris's G an 82 model ? our first G was reg number RMP9Y.
i do believe that mark vulture still owns a red 240 gdl with twin barn doors ! i think mark mentioned it was the first official mb import.
Mine is a 79 model, number 2939,. It was imported (new) in 82 hence the 'Y' registration - should be a 'V' really
hi chris.
that IS early vintage !!
washer actuator is on the floor like mine, and the front seat recline is turn spindle on the back of the front seat right?
should have been registered as a V reg, then it would have more unique...
.
[btw, just went to a local scrap and picked up 2 x 711-116 gearbox's for a friend...]

Showing off .....
In a cost/benefit analysis of owning a G showing off is definately a benefit to be enjoyed - the smile of a young girls eye as someone once said
I wonder how many soft tops we can get together? I feel a gathering coming on
Who knows you might ...... soon I hope :-)
Can't beat that Joe (;
LOL Nice one two dogs - I can't really reply to that! :)

There are at least two 240GD's in Ireland.
I rescued 46031017000605 from a field where it was abandoned by it's German owner many years ago. It is a LHD SWB soft-top 4/5 seater. It is an '81 or '82.
I also recently encountered a 1983 240GD, SWB RHD now converted to OM617 300D. It is an original Irish car in full health. I presume the alloys are not original.
Eddie.
Loads of differences but both lack the three-pointed star on the grille!
People keep steeling mine!!!!!!!!!!!
Got a lovely Puch one :-)
As a matter of interest, what would happen if you rebadge a whole G as puch with no merc sign on it ???? would this be legal ??
Suits you sir ,,,,
