Is there an easy way of changing the headlight bulbs?! :?

The only way I've found so far is to unscrew and lift off the plastic surround, but then because of the washer pipe there's not much room for movement so it looks like I'll have to take the bullbars off to make enough room - surely there must be an easier way?!

Your profile says "searching for first G", so we don't know what you've got... :?:

I can now see that you have a 1991 300 GES. What kind of bullbar have you got? Because the OEM one is retractable and can be removed in seconds. Then you obviously have to remove the headlamp plastic surrounds and then undo the three screews to remove the headlamp. But with the Mercedes bullbar it does not take more than three minutes.

Cheers,

Hmmm, I'll have to see if mine will come off somehow then! Nevermind, but cheers for your help!

(I don't think my G is any better than anyone elses - that's just a particularly good pic, taken after I had just spent 8 hours cleaning it!)

Hi Carl, near side wiper needs moving a spline or two to line up properly at rest. Nice looking G :D

Whoops! I hadn't even noticed that!

That's just where I put it down after I'd finished washing it. It sits normally the rest of the time.

Honest Guv!

Carl, getting off topic here, but how would you rate the acceleration of the 3 litre petrol engine ? Slow, fast, and how about fuel consumption. Have you driven a diesel for comparison ?

Cheers, Fred.

I'd describe it as "nippy", especially given the weight. I don't drive mine hard anyway, it's purely for cruising around at weekends looking cool! I haven't taken it over 4k yet. Even driven sensibly I only get 15mpg, found out the other day it takes £70 to fill the tank! Won't be doing that often! The fuel light came on, I drove over two roundabouts and then it conked out! I expected a little more warning!

Carl,
That sounds a bit strange mate, when my light comes on i've gotten another 15 miles outta it (never driven it till it concked out so don't know how much you can squeeze out of it)
Yep welcome to the £70 club

Well it kept conking out, but everytime I managed to get it started again, there just wasn't enough pressure to keep it idling. It may well have gone for another 15 miles had I not needed to go into neutral!

I don't have any interior pics, but I can take some if you'd really like to see?!
