I have found a manufacturer of propshafts at a reasonable price, in Bristol. they will make any type you require up to an HGV prop. these are more easily repaired than the original ones. to find out more call the company, their details are, H.J. Chard, tel 0117 971 7311 & ask for propshaft dept.

I also had experience with guys from Bailey Morris. www.baileymorris.co.uk

They supplied a prop shaft for me last year and is solid and works great. They have prop shafts for all types of cars off the shelf (or custom) including the G-wagen. All they need is the specific model.

i think it came up to £400 brand new and delivered within 3 days.

That is almost MB price. I have to see but I think that I paid £ 120 for a brand-new propshaft with circlips.

Cheers

I thought the MB ones were around £700-800? I had it checked for the LWB (which are more expensive because of their length) and the Mercedes' ppl informed me that it would be that price.

Anyway, £120 sounds like an absolute bargain!

I have to enquire with my mechanic who got it and fitted it for me.

Re: propshafts

Do you think there would be a market for adaptor plates to fit Land Rover Prop shafts? Used ones are cheap as chips and available in loads of different lengths. Even new aftermarket high angle ones are cheaper than that and you can re-build them with little more than a hammer!

Re: propshafts

Shelley Transmissions in Wolverhampton will rebuild G propshafts
with a 24 hour turnaround. They are able to rebuild the MB joints correctly.
I speak as a satisfied customer - I have no connection with the firm at all.

Land Rover shafts are pretty feeble in comparison to G shafts and looking at
those on my Discovery I would be surprised if they lasted half as long as the
MB shafts!
