i bought a second 1988 300gd at the weekend but its just for off roading
cylinder 3 is misfiring or not compressing as the engine is chugging at tickover it sounds like a trackter and id blowing a lot of black smoke out the back tailpipe i took the rocker cover off and inspected all the cylinders and there all minted theres nothing wrong with them or the seals the timeing chain is still tight and in good health before i bought it it did sit in a shen for 7 years and never got started i've tryed taking in for a run to see if a little blast out would clear the cylinders but theres no change

dose anyone have and ideas or advice?

Hello G-dog,

Have you done a compression test?

I suggest checking your valve clearences after you have checked the compression test. All being fine, it could be the No: 3 injector.

Cheers,
