was wondering if any one has blueprinted this motor, to get it reving more freely, reducing wieght on engine components , flywheel, crank etc etc ? any success stories ??

what about lightening the vehicle as a whole, the back seats weigh a rediculous weight, as any other parts do also..whats been done , to get the weight of your vehicle down ??

If you look at original mpg/accel figures for the soft top commercial 460 that was always a bit better than a station wagon body, so I'm sure if you could diet your G , it would work but only for a very small gain!

Re: 300 460

I was thinkin on the lines, weight loss, free reving motor..... as i raced bikes in the 80/90's & with good results.

If i could shed the wieght, as when hill climbing as they crawl !, get the motor reving freely, & get the thing to climbr better. Having said that tho.......i changed a front axle on 1 some years back, have you felt the weight of them monsters !!

GenerallyI thought Merc diesels love revs, so think you will have to try a petrol if you want free revs!
Look at a Peugeot p4 ( close relative of the G)and see how little they weigh. give you some idea of what to strip out!

There's a fella in South Africa who had some success in getting more out of the NA OM617. Try a search for posts by Amzimmy.
