Waxing fuel?
It has warmed up a bit but I had a breakdown due to fuel not getting to the filter a few days back at about 6.15am
Lost power gradually 3 miles from start up after sitting outside (Aberdeenshire)
On last 1/4 tank on the flat.
Hand priming was not making flow
There was fluid in the the wee pre filter
Pulled out supply from tank and had fuel and clean bottom filter
After a bit of messing got flow .. but I suspect it waxing.
Put new check valves, piston, O rings, hand primer assy into pump and replaced filter; new hand primer is definitely stronger flow.
Anyway suspect it was Waxing.. the standards say -15C waxing so it definitely could have been down to that.
Anyone else had waxing issues; I note there are no fuel heaters on the fuel lines unlike my other diesels?
Put 5% unleaded with your diesel and your G will run like s*** out of a shovel.
Good luck!
Jesus is that good for the engine?

I remember the manual of my dad's OM617-powered 300D saloon stating that you could mix up to 30% petrol or kerosene with the standard diesel to operate in wintry conditions (that is, well below zero).
I have run my OM603-powered 300GD for more than one year with 90-95% sunflower oil and 5-10% mixture of commercial diesel and petrol. I would use the petrol in winter to thin the mix. It works perfectly well in older Mercedes indirect-injection diesels.
Your 290GDT is however direct injection so I would neither use vegetable oil nor do experiments with petrol....
Thanks Jesus :D
it is good but how can I increase mileage?
one ltr of domestic heating oil (wide cut kerosine) to every 50ltrs of diesel is enough to stop "waxing" up to minus 15. better than petrol as it is also compression combustable like diesel...back in the early days before electric heater plugs kerosine was injected into each cylinder to help the cold starting procedure.....
May be try another supplier of Diesel, ? Esso? I thought in winter conditions you could mix with a bit of petrol?
