Re: V-power diesel

5th gear did tests on various petrol's a while back and found that they only made a difference in very highly tuned cars like the Imprezza and the Evo VIII but made no difference to the vast majority of cars, I'm sure its the same with taxi fuel. The diesels ability to burn almost anything contradicts if that makes sense any type of high performance elixir. Diesel engine performance is improved by use of a turbo and charge cooling and also by using LPG but this is specialied and as yet confined to lorries.

Re: V-power diesel

Put some in yesterday afternoon. I found that it smells significantly less... and the engine performs slightly better, too.

Re: V-power diesel

I work with someone who did his own tests (pretty comprehensive, he is something of a geek)

Comparing supermarket fuel with V Power Diesel.

Result being an improvement of around 5%.

This was in a modern Toyota D4D common rail engine. I’ve never bothered putting it in my very low tech 603 MB though.

I have used V Power in one of my petrol cars and found a marginal improvement of maybe 2%. Any perceived improvement in running I put down to psychological rather than reality

If you want to put something different in, put some pressed rape seeds in. It runs ooooooooh soooooo smoooooth!

PS Even beter when nice and black and second hand, then you even have the added bonus of good smell.

Re: V-power diesel

I ran my tank as empty as I dare and filled up with V-Power today at a cost of £1.17/l (My oil cost me 50p/l delivered to my house)

I took the G for a good run and then took it up the Ruallt hill on the A55, with chip fat my max speed in 4th is 55ml/h with V-Power it was maybe 58ml/h.

The one cost 50p/l the other £1.17/l, what do you think is going to be my fuel of choice?

I once put the expensive stuff (by mistake) in a Disco TD5. I thought it was a lot smoother. Have not repeated though.

Strange this topic should come up. I just filled up the G with V Power Diesel on the weekend. Engine seemed smoother, but its early days.

Just an update on my V Power usage. Well my wallet definately seems lighter, but overall im happy so far. There seems to be less black smoke coming out and power seems to be a bit smoother. I havent checked for fuel consumption yet, so I'll update again in a few weeks.

Where do you get it at that price? I never managed to get less than 80p.
