I have got an extreme vibration when taking off in my 300GD 1986, i have renewed engine mounts (£150!!) gearbox mounts all bushes under the truck, and wheel bearings, i have turned the props so that both ends are the same, and i still have the vibration, though i must add that fitting new Engine mounts made a slight difference.
Since buying the truck it has had a full restoration and anything that wanted replacing has been. I am now at my wits end with this vibration, the harder you accelerate the worse the vibration is, it shakes the truck to bits, its that bad. when backing off the vibration stops. my local garage that does all my work think that its possibly the rear diff or the layshaft in the gearbox thats causing this problem now, but i am hesitant to replace these and find out its something else, can anyone offer any advice?

who does your work, living in lincs have you tried spilsby road garage for advice. It seems you have done all the obvious. have you done all the bushes in the suspension arms, cant thing of the name for them but they run from the chassis to the axle. my friend had 560 V8 and it used to vibrate and wander over the road. he replaced the bushes and found that on acceleration the axle was juddering quite badly but it cured it after pressing in the new bushes

This would probably reduce the vibration, if not eliminate it altogether.

What do you mean with both ends? MB props have two arrows drawn on either half and need to be mounted with the arrows pointeing at each other, which correspond to offsets between UJs between 0º and 110º.

Have your mechanic to check this before fitting.

Lining the arrows up on the propshafts and new rubbers on the top of the shockers have now cured the problem. Thanks
