Hi,

I have a problem with My G thats always been a problem since my dad owned it and then i owned it.

Basically the pick up for 2 to 3rd and 3rd to 4th is to slow so when i acelerate away i have no poke and this causes ISSUES on roundabouts and trying to pull away in situations where I needs to be fastish!

If I put it in 2nd gear and try it geared it goes like the clappers!

Has anyone got any ideas

Many thanks
Joe

Re: Automatic change up

hey,

yes the kickdown does work but it is still very slugish! If i try the kick down when manually selecting the gear it works and bloody fast to!

Cheers

Re: Automatic change up

could be a vacuum leak starving the gearbox modulator valve fitted on the side of the gearbox. identified by a thin vacuum pipe fitted to the end of the valve...if not functioning properly the gears are all over the place..check for other vacuum leaks as your previous enrichment problem could be vacuum related.lots of rubber hose interfaces which perish and breach the integrity of the vacuum system.....

Re: Automatic change up

Hey Fixwin Thanks :)

well the enrithment problem has gone now(tuning lol) still a bit smelly but always has been!

As for the vacuum pipe is it easily visable? could i replce it myself or not advised?

Also I did this: I put the car in second and footed around our property (on road) and it al changed okish... Now when I pull away in 4th The kickdown works properly again! It takes of FAST considering how heavy and big it is lol

Is that any help or cud it be what you said about vacuum leak?

Cheers Fixwin

Re: Automatic change up

it is the only vacuum pipe running to the gearbox....1st gear should hold in first gear all the time without overrun 2nd and 3rd should hold and not change up but allow overrun..4th is the gear to use all the time it will start of in second and climb to third and fourth on the revs and speed ..the kickdown only works with fourth gear selected when you stamp the accelerator pedal to the floor ( a switch underneath the pedal)
