463 diesel don't stop
When I switch the car off, it keeps on idling for a bit. Any idea's?
Sounds like your vacuum system may have a slight leak. Does it switch off immediately if you hit the "stop" button on the engine itself?
Hi Christo there are lots of small rubber hose sections interfacing plastic pipe in the vacuum system plumbing.... they look 100% sound but when you bend them you see the age cracks ...any leaking hose will impair the vacuum assist function on the brake servo and the operation of the injector pump shutoff...the piece of hose behind the ignition switch is the hardest to get at...and the most likely to be the oldest. thus most decayed...cannot be too bad if the shutoff actuates eventually./....
I'm sure it does!, Look under bonnet on injection pump, lever marked stop. pull upwards? I can't remember exactly. Mine had same symptons, turned out it was the vacumn stop on the injection pump, not too expensive, two bolts to undo, 1 very awkard to get at, though could just be leaking pipe.
463 diesels don't have the stop button; 460s do.
There is a lever on the side of the injection pump to stop it.
My 463 (350TD) got a stopbutton.

Mine did....
Leeu - it is very hard to see as it is tucked down. You basically have to stand on the bumper and look straight down on the engine. It might be covered in dirt but it should normally have a big red label saying stop. It can be awkward to reach, I think I used a screw driver on mine.
Also when the engine is actually running the lever is in an almost perfectly vertical condition with the words stop facing the windscreen, so very easy to miss...
Also look at this older post.
I stand corrected then  I can't find mine!
