Propshaft interchangeability 460 to 463?
Does anyone know if the 460 small prop is usable on the 463?
I have a vibration on the 463 which maybe to do with the small prop and if I could change it over it may help identify and solve the problem
Thanks

apparently the previous owner spent considerable sums of money with a reputable workshop trying to solve a vibration problem...drop the front prop first and if the vibration goes away entirely then the shaft or the interface flanges or the output shaft bearings are suspect.I have witnessed three G's with flanges seemingly tight but worn on the splines....
between 40/50 could point to the steering damper..is the vibration felt through the steering wheel or drivetrain.. ie hi-low range knob / clutch pedal....
does it get worse above these speeds, if it does and almost feels like the car is bouncing, then its probably steering damper as Peter suggests, they do not last very long, 2 years is good.
Hi Murph try the intermdiate shaft between th G'box and the T'box for alignment marks. crosses. flange splines. lack of good grease in the slide..if not there then go to the rear shaft and check the same way..
Yes he did spend a lot to try and solve this one and it has almost gone but just a slight vib at 40 to 50 mph which would be good to clear.
I will try what you have suggested and see what happens.
Must admit that I am driving the G more than I thought I would and am enjoying it much to my wifes distaste!
Thanks
