Hi everyone,
I need help as my turbo "died". My car (W461, 290 gdt, mod '99) after an engine overhaul, started to "smoke" and to consume a lot of oil. The mechanic found that there was a problem with the turbo. I went to a turbo specialist who told me that the turbo needs change, does not worth to rebuild it. Except the Garrett for G, is any other alternative solution (I mean cheaper  )?
What is the exact Garrett model that fits in my car (T2/??)? Is it the same with the Sprinter 2.9 turbo?
Any help is welcomed.
Regards Angelos

Re: Turbo failure

Hi if the case/body is damaged then a replacement unit is required. turbo specialists in the UK/USA will rebuild or offer "over the counter" exchange(GBP 400/600) if the carcass is within limits.the engine serial number will identify which model turbo was and should be fitted.run it passed MB technical for advice.....is your engine model OM602 DE29 LA??
