I HAVE HAD SERIOUS PROBLEMS !!!
hi to all members here.
hi have had alot of stress since the beginning of the january. :(
i will need advice from members here and also any help or knowledge regarding my G300 ruby, which i happily brought form jcowan.
i hope i dont have to resort to revealing full details regarding ruby and the person involved. i hope he deals with it and the FIASCO is resolved.
thanks guys.
(just to make it clear, i have no problems with marty or jc with regards to ruby. i am sorry if i have given that impression whilst writing in haste, sorry guys.)
Hmm curious you leave us hanging there huss...hope it gets resolved with all parties happy soon.
You say you need help but not with what...
Sorry confused. The LPG fitter messed it up? Or a previous owner? Or someone who worked on it?
If it's a previous owner then unfortunately I don't think you can do a whole lot - it is a used car after all. If it was a garage or the LPG fitters then they should sort it....
So who put the wrong spark plugs in? The LPG place?
i actually want marty and jcowan to chime in and give their opinions.
and i will never mention names.
?? What has this to do with me or Jonathon??  I don't know a single thing about what is being discussed here?
Please elaborate/clarify our (Alleged  ) part in all this- and as our names have been "Mentioned" Huss, please allow us the opportunity to respond.
ooooo!! how annoying!!! It is not only the problem of money, but the trust issue as well!! I hope 26 hours of labour didn't cost you £5400.
Best wishes
Pok
Yes I do have to agree with Martin - I think that it is unfair you mention his and Jonathon's name in your discontent. Particularly without giving them anything to respond to in order to defend himself.
We all know the respect both of them give their Gs and the forum really isn't the place for mud slinging without hard evidence that the persno being slung at deliberately messed with you.
So perhaps you need to clarify the issue?
HI all since Hus has gone public on the issue..here are the details....I agreed to arrange for a single point/single tank with deflector plate underfloor LPG system to be installed by an AUTOGAS approved installer for an agreed price ..installation to include a modified exhaust system to suit the installation....the vehicle was driven from Romford to Northern Ireland by a friend of Hus....due to the short turnround time requested by Hus the vehicle was put into the exhaust installer the following morning...Hus had requested that the cold starting characteristics be observed and he was advised that the cold start enrichment was not operating correctly.the engine bay area was coated in mud and the radiator matrix blocked with mud to within six inches of the top and the engine was running hot (90/95c with higher temps at hot idle)..Hus had commented that the indicator had been in the red on one occasion after his "mudplugging" on Dartmoor.. the lpg installer spent 4 hours immulsifying the mud baked into the radiator matrix and around the engine..He subsequentlydiscovered that the cold start temperature sensor in the cylinder head and the lambda sensor were inoperative and new ones were ordered ....time dictated that the lpg installation should begin before the new parts arrived....with the lpg system installed and parts fitted the cold start problem remained..a new dizzy cap and rotor arm were installed.as were 6 new Champion plugs...the problem remained....a full and complete check of the vacuum system was carried out and various rubber components showing age and heat crazing were coated in silicone to prove the system (prior to them being replaced)...Time ran out when Hus insisted on collecting the vehicle despite being told it was not performing correctly. He drove the vehicle... accepted it..paid for the work perfomed and drove it back to Romford... a series of complaints arose.which resulted in my suggesting he take the vehicle to another AUTOGAS approved installer (a Turkish gentleman) who insisted that the lpg be disconnected for safety reasons...his written report has not been received yet....most of the manhours accrued were from trying to determine the problem... to the extent that electrical components were substituted from a similar 463.... and the original components tested on the host vehicle to prove serviceability.. none of which remedied the problem...... no mystery really!! just hard facts...
From my humble experience with the M103 engine I must say it can be a pain to diagnose some issues without the right tools/technique/experience. I had such a fun time with the engine dying ever so often but never in the same conditions and changed so many bits and pieces until finally with the aid of our able tech rep he hit the nail on the head: it was a simple idle adjustment, quarter turn of a 3mm hex key while connected to a CO monitor and it was sorted!
Ok here's my opinion. Huss why didn't you take it to the guys that shakir used. He and you were always praising there work, and they were a dam site nearer, also naming Marty and John surely has no connection to this post. And maybe emailing individuals would have been a bit better and a little more diplomatic. Also I don't believe a single point system is the correct one to fit to the M103 is it ? can a mutli point system be fitted, and if not why not?
Huss, why did you not go to the one shakir used, im curious. However apart from anything else this is a transaction that is between the owner and the installation company, and not sure if stones should be thrown on this forum. But as with all LPG installtions the plugs should be changed so why the incorrect ones, if that is the case.

'' Also I don't believe a single point system is the correct one to fit to the M103 is it ? can a mutli point system be fitted, and if not why not?''
totally agree one of my other vehicles mercedes s/class , similar type of injection system i would think , has fitted multipoint sequential injection gas conversion and works exceptionaly well , costs the same to run as a 1.8 petrol hatchback , i'd think a single point injection system not be as good , only cheaper to buy
Another thing to point out ,, name terms '' what some people call things ,
, JCB = diggers ,, land rov**s = 4x4 jeeps silicone = flexible sealers '' remember this '' silicone and silicone based products must not be used in any area near a modern engine ,, as it plays hav'oc with the engine management censors , esp MAF & Lambda
Hi Huss,
Sorry for your dificulties mate where ever they may originate from.
BUT,I would be like Ian and ask what on earth took you so far out of your way to get a gas conversion done, especially as you had a local recommendation through Shakir?
I am sure that maybe someone could intervene/mediate between both of ye to rectify these problems to the satisfaction of all concerned.
It sounds like its something small that could be wrong so don't loose heart altogether, you will have Ruby back in all her prime soon I'm sure.
She will be running lighter I'm sure like your wallet(sorry, couldn't help that one).
Regards,
Mike
PS Don't think you should have mentioned Marty and JC names before notifying them of your reasons. We all know where your vehicle came from and its condition physically and mechanically from your posted photos, its concours condition to a tee.
Hi all,
Just realized my name mentioned so I felt obliged to respond.
-M103 engine cannot have sequential, because it is a mechanical injection car and for sequential you need a computerised inj.
-my installation by Battersea Autogas is Good till this day, they have done a good installation which I think is the best for this model of engine.
i.e they have used a single point, double tank installation with an electronic idle control unit . They refused to get involved with any installation that requires a lamda sensor in order to operate.
So they followed the KISS rule.
KEEP IT STUPID SIMPLE.
So there is less to go wrong.
My installation cost me less than £1400 at the time
And I still reccommend their services to everyone.
As to why Huss did not choose them, I am sure he has his reasons.
Since there is a problem I am sure other party will honour his part of the deal and compensate Huss accordingly.
After all we are all civilised people.
Huss everything can be fixed so don't be Too Sad. 8)
Shakir KISS means "KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID" But i'm sure it was a technical error on your part.
Hope this gets resolved, as both parties are valuble to the forum, Fixwin for his techincal advise, and Huss for his car cleaning antics,"Wax on wax off".
Maybe you both should now keep this out of the public eye, for both your benefits. Only a thought,Like Shakir says, it can be fixed.
Ok Ian, may be you are right but dont forget , I have modified it,hence the sequence. Thanx anyway. Now, you know where to go if you need Autogas installation.
To me of course.!
I drove ruby long after the offroad event and i had no issues. cold start was not a major issue.
all i said to him was it turns over 5-6 timeswhen cold but then started up and idled ok THAT WAS IT !!
battersea lpg centre was his idea for my car to be inspected,NOT MINE
fixwin knew my turnaround time.
where are the reciepts for all the parts you fitted? i have asked you a dozen times????
that gasket that took you changed because of an alleged manifold warp 18 hours labour charged????? you havent touched the manifold !!!!
why are you making it up??
there are electrical cable snippings all over the engine. YOU ARE PROFFESIONAL??
you or your men even cracked/snapped the pastic that holds the key !!
the key was only months old due to a new ignition barrel fitted a few months ago.....
why bother touching such a dodgy G wagen?????? i never forced you into doing this lpg, you made it was state of the art....
the system design is 10 years old !!
tell me why 5 sparks are champion and 1 beru ????
once again , marty and jc you have no connection with any of the problems, i am sorry if i have given this idea.
i will state that jc would not have part exed his G55 for ruby in this state.
and as for who fitted the sparks...,, ask fixwin :?
it still begs the question as to why you never went to battersea in the first place, also was the LPG installer in Ireland recommended by fixwin, or did he do the work, bit confused.
fair comment, a real shame.
Huss,
I believe in the UK there is a small claims court for matters such as this and also if you believe the gas installation is faulty and dangerous you can go to the Office of Trading standards.
Someone must be responsible for the mess!
I hope you are successful in getting Ruby back running right as I'm sure it is something small that's wrong especially as all those new parts were fitted to solve the problem. There can't be much else left to try/replace.
Regards,
Mike
PS Would love to meet up with you for a coffee over here sometime before you head off for a sunny retirement as I'm sure would the rest of us.
Perhaps it's best if this situation is reported on once things have been resolved, rather then an on going battle on the forum.
i will reveal all if he carries on giving me excuses...
a few of you know my G from a few events we attended. did i ever mention any problems with my cold start or irratic idling when warm?
maxwell, you and sav both drove my G that evening, how did it start and idle???
was there any perculiar behaviour like over reving when at standstill etc..
i actually want marty and jcowan to chime in and give their opinions. my G is now technically screwed !! it idles wrong and doesnt peform like it used to.
it was lpg'd at the sam time, and when it went to battersea lpg center THEY DICONNECTED IT SAYING IT WASNT SAFE !!
and they found 1 beru and 5 champion sparks fitted that were not for that engine. [a full report is being written and i will be recieving it soon and so will he] btw HE insisted my G went to this lpg center
i still hope that he will resolve the matter before third parties get involved
and i will never mention names.
THE LIST OF FAULTS AND ILL PRACTICE IS ENDLESS, TOGETHER WITH THE 26 HOURS LABOUR I WAS CHARGED . btw i paid all the money requested, half upfront too :?
as for what paid, dont even go there....
MY G IS RUINED AND SO IS MY PASSION FOR IT.
i almost never renewed my membership renewal the other day but i have too many honest friends here i didnt want to turn my back on.
