Well it is now time to break the news... after three and a half years of living in the Madrid area, it is now time to move on: I have accepted an offer to work in Santa Cruz de Tenerife as from January, so once again I am putting my life, my home and my family upside down!

It has not been a simple decision, but anyone who knows me knows that I am very adaptable to new environments: I have lived and work in a number of different places over the last 15 years and I have left many friends behind: Luckily, the final choice is Tenerife which is by far more pleasant then the alternative, which was Holland...

So the G and I will be on the boat to Tenerife in early January. The family will stay behind until the end of th school year... so Goodbye Madrid, Hello Tenerife!

Well done Jesus. At least you are working again. Have fun in Tenerife ... no doubt you'll run into a few owners from UK out there. I meant socially... it wasn't a comment on your driving! ;)

You can bet on that... there is a sizeable community of residents from the Uk and Germany and some of them must surely be very fond of the G. Despite being an island the locals are very activein organizing off-road events so I gather that you'll hera from them/me very soon.

Cheers!

Jesus, be honest mate, you should have never left the uk. You could have got a job here easy! Your family was settled here plus you had us to look forward to

Yes, you are right with that... the south of England is so flat that it's difficult to roll a G

You are right Ian, but the parents and the in-laws missed the contact with their grandchildren so we were then ripe for a change.

And the Canary Islands are called the land of the eternal spring. Temperatures today, min 16ºC max 21ºC. Just like in Aberdeen, I believe

Jesus,
you will soon have a map of where you have been living with your "G" and family to rival that German geezers exploits.
Good luck
Marcus

He, he, it was Business Manager and I resigned yesterday.

The owner is so cocky and arrogant that he could not understand why would anyone want to leave his school. He could simply not believe it. The place "had more traps than a chinesemen film". It was so bad that he threatened to take legal action against me if I ever spoke of what I had seen inside

But that's in the past already!

Re: Goodbye Madrid. Hello Tenerife!

It was Tuesday last week when I finally took the ferry to Tenerife to transport the G to is new place of residence. I drove down to Cádiz, where we boarded the vessel Fortuny to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, via Arrecife (Lanzarote) and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

This picture is just before we boarded the ship:

This is Tenerife from the distance, with the fantastic Teide in the background:

And this is the Anaga peninsula (north east of the island or the head of the duck) with its amazing mountains:

And finally my G parked by the hotel I am staying in, living La Vida Loca

Meanwhile I am now back in Colmenar for the weekend where it is snowing quite badly.... and my G in Tenerife!
