Hi G-wagen owners (I envy you all),

I am a non G wagen owner from the east of Holland (near German border). I used to have a RR 3.9 EFI but I got rid of it because I want to buy a G-Wagen (W463 LWB Petrol), better looks, better off road (in my opninion), better value and much, much more reliable. In other words, just the better car!

Looking over the internet the last few months I found this great forum and many more good information on other websites. Currently I am spending most of the time on the net searching for a W463 LWB on petrol. So if anybody here has some good info on were to buy a nice G (or has a nice LHD for sale), I would be really thankfull. Most of the websites I do know (Autotrader, Autotrack, Autoscout24, Mobile even EBAY). Maybe somebody has some good Austrian websites? You can get pretty good G's from there for pretty good value.

I will try to be a active member of this great forum and I hope I can soon be a proud G Wagen Owner as well.

Best regards and looking forward for a great time over here,

Rick

Welcome R.E.W.

There are a few Dutch members here who I am sure will help you find the best place to track down a G in the Netherlands. There are a number of speciality dealers there.

I have spent a fair amount of time there and probably never seen as high a G concentration before - it certainly rivals London - crazy when you figure out how much people are paying for them over there with your tax rate.... :o

Hi lpong & Maxwell,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

To come back to the Speciality dealers in Holland, I know most of them, for example G-Center (I personally think they are overpriced), there are some more, if there is anybody who wants to have the links (Also parts) I can make a topic about this.

And Maxwell, do you really find the concentration of G's in Holland is so high? For my work as a roadrep I travel a lot thru the Benelux, and I personally think the concentration is the highest in Belgium. Of course there are a lot of Army G's in Holland, and the Crime Police in Amsterdam has W463 LWB, so yes it is quite high here.

The tax rates are pretty high over here, that is why I am searching for a Petrol Car, taxes are lower than the diesel cars. For example a 320 W463 LWB 1996 is 320 euros per quarter, a diesel would be 540 euros.

And that is per quarter  go figure....

Welcome to the forum, brave man from Holland!

Thanks Mortinson & Hus.

The RR 3.9 was not bad, I had a really nice time with it, some good trips to for example Iceland. But it is time for something new and better.

OK I know the tax is cheaper but isn't diesel significantly cheaper in NL? If you do enough driving the diesel may still end up cheaper than petrol. Plus you can run an older (pre 2000 / pre G270) on vegetable oil with no conversion which would save lots of money....

As for NL Gs - last time I was in the Netherlands I saw 7 Gs inside of 24 hours not including police or military... if you include the police it was 10, if you include the military it would of been a few dozen....

Ok maybe not quite London where I think I managed that in 3 hours once... but not far off.

Hi fellow Dutchman,

Just pay the € 540,- for a diesel version. Or go for a G500 or better yet a 55. Either way the roadtax is just a small percentage of the total cost of ownership :-) Have you checked marktplaats.nl? There are currently about 40 G's in a variety of conditions and price ranges for sale.

Hi and Welcome R.E.W,

We have a Gwagen centre in the UK and I know he has some LHD G's both pertol and diesel. You make want to take a look at his website, although maybe the imprort tax may make it prohibitive

Anyhoo, welcome anyway! (and my advice is go 500! )
