Have a need to rebuild my Auto and wonder if anyone out there knows a source of a rebuild kit. Is there a part umber for a bag of bits that will make the trans like new?

John,
Of little help , but I "understand" that any advice previously given on this forum re auto rebuilds was to take it to a specialist, no doubt someone will now offer a different opinion.

Even if you have the bits, does one not require various flow and pressure guages to set it up correctly?
Good luck

Good heavens No Marcus I will not be doing it. Just wondered where the best source of kits was. Perhaps MB is the only option.

Gee,
Tanex,
I am all disappointed
We "Brits" do not generally understand auto boxes
I thought perhaps you-unz's did
Simply giving you the benefit of the doubt :D
Now I am merely surmising but as Mercedes build there own auto boxes, ( well they used too anyway ) I suspect MB is your only option for bits
Though I "guess" in Germany there are possibly other suppliers /options
Though
Perhaps try the USofA
I seem to recall the guy who rebuilt my auto box ( 290 Van) sourced a lot of his stuff from there, I saw USA marking on discarded packaging.

Thanks marcus.. You would be surprised where some cars auto are made. The auto in our new Picasso is Jap and it does change well. I think the touareg V10 diesel auto is from Japan also. Best to give credit where it is due. Downloaded the parts manual for the 720 as used in both the petrol and the diesel. Same apart from valve body. On with the rebuild.

Hello tanex,

Your local g/box specialist should be able to source your parts requirements for you, otherwise M/benz would be your better source.

I could give alternative sources but, I noticed your are in N/Zland. By the time your have ordered and paid and got your shipment and adding your postage or frieight, not only will it take time, but you may loose out on any discount benefit. Therefore, you are better off at your M/benz dealer.

Regards,
Dropped it off to get it rebuilt, Was slipping when it had a 2300cc engine so am sure it will be fine when i get it back. Was going to put 722.5 in it but non one seemed to know how it finds fifth. 4 Speeds will be fine as i will put on some 285 60 18 . That will help
