Now we've got an M Class section I can finally say their not bad off road, great axle articulation (easy track's, bit of mud).

They all told me not to buy my 1998 320 with 95K miles, now after 45K more miles in two years with no problems I can only say what a great car for the money £5.5k 2 years ago, sold today for £4k.

Pity I just bought a Range Rover TD6, still got the G for the shooting / off roading but needed something economical for the 20/30k motorway miles a year I drive.

ps Awaiting the p*ss takers!

pps Marty's G55, I was so close.

Re: Wot no takers!

ive owned a rr too, but untill saturday night i admired them, one i was driving, supercharged, just a year old, very well cared for and the drivers window had dropped out and the tints had gone funny on the windows making it look quite cheap!

should have bout the g55!

p.s fathers got a ml270cdi, not been a terrible motor, 115k on the clock, drove it home just now (they drank too much in the restaurant) and still a pleasure to drive apart from the sticky throttle, i might find the bit on pointed three and post it on here for people!

tom - enjoyed the ml, but its still no g

Re: Wot no takers!

Had three, before the G. All excellent cars, 2 ML55 AMG's and a 270 CDI. Nice, comfortable and surprised that the most expensive B service on the AMG was under £1,000! Mind you the Ball joins were the weakest link, all had to ahve them donw around 60K miles. Was in the final three of our car list (ML63, G500 and RR), but when the family voted it was 4 to the G and nil to the ML and RR!

Please, don't get me started on the RR's... We went to put a deposit down and as we walked out they brought three of the TDV8’s back that had broken down, the oldest one was only 4 months old! Talk about a sign from the God’s!

Re: Wot no takers!

I took an ML320 onto a Scottish off road site and managed to get over everything except deep mud. It was on road tyres though, so what can you expect. I discovered that mudflaps are a definite no, especially at the rear, where they whip off the rear bumper in short order. Stainless bars in the right places would help protect the plastic bits. It gives a bit more confidence hauling it to a quick stop at motorway speeds than the G, and it's very quiet,(Unless the rear mudflaps have pulled the bumper off).
