Not so Chromed Side Strips: Finally sorted..but much hassle

What a emotional rollercoaster :? and yes I am a perfectionist :wink:

So I order the chrome side strips from a guy from latvia (on german ebay ) at £100 all in...on the face of it they look good and well made..but when I put them on (super sticky tape already attached to the backs) it just looked all wrong...it was way to shiny and didnt give the same effect that you see on the plastic coated G55 items (which looked brushed metal / matted)..they also jarred with my rims which are standard 2000 G300 TD..ie the rims are not all shiny and chromed!

So very frustrartedly :evil: I was about to take it all off and consider ordering the real deal at £250 per side from MB...Not being a happy camper about time/cash wasted.

Then a mate reccos that I try rubbing some compound paste over them and using some fine steel wool...the 2 togther worked really well and I would challange anyone to know the difference to real thing from 2ft away ! :D

All in all a total pain in the rear..but I know think it looks pretty good and not like some aftermarket / chav mod...
