Correction Huss,

The gear lever needs to be in Park, in order to check the oil level. On the dip stick, when withdrawn, you will notice two notches or marks a high and a low reading.

The low mark indicates oil level when oil is cold and the higher mark indicates oil level when the Gearbox oil is warm or hot.

Oil is best checked when the gearbox oil is hot, you will need to take your vehicle for a run of approximately 5 miles.

Check the oil level by ensuring the parking brake is applied, make sure the gear lever is 'P' (Park), withdraw the gearbox dip stick and wipe it clean towards the bottom, insert the d/stick and leave it for a few seconds before withdrawing it. (do not insert into tube and pull out instantly)

Oil should register from the top mark or notch to at least half way down to the low mark or notch. The oil should NOT be overfilled, drain as necessary if, so.

Always have the engine running to check the level, move through all gear positions first too and hold in each one for a couple of seconds then put in park and you will get a good measure make sure its on completly level ground obviously, cheers Alex
