How about 17 to 19 outta a 300D,
Because I ran her dry last night about a mile from the house.
I put a jar in, 20 litre plastic virtually full.
Thought I should make it this moprning and then put another one in to return
OK I was fleecing the old girl, got 75 outta her on a downwith
ie 75 miles on between 18 and 20 litres
but I ran out,
After refueling, it gets a kinda repetive / tedious this often
I drove back slower
Gotta buy a Polo Ecodrive :?:
Reason for the palaver is my tank is seeping / leaking
This all after I freed up the binding brakes

88P per ltr???? Oh I wish!

Live out side london - cheapest unleaded about £1.04 per ltr premium £1.08 and the 'black stuff' starts at £1.11 and goes up.

Mind you my local BP garage is only 500M down the road!

Re: Fuel consumption

Why not use ASDA? If you have their credit card you get an extra 2p litre off.

Re: Fuel consumption

I stopped buying supermarket diesel and petrol after reading a report saying that they keep their prices down by skimping on the additives and lubricants.

Re: Fuel consumption

Im struggling to go below 20mpg in my G270 CDi! Average is about 23mpg but im sure if I drove a bit sensibly I would get about 26+ mpg.

Not really a problem out here as it costs me about £2.60 to fill it up!

£2.60 to fill it up? 23-26mpg? Who votes on banning him from the forum? Or make that the UK?

Joking obviously.

Wondered when you would post a response :P

As for the £2.60 to fill up, at that price, why not go and get a 55? There must be a few in Saudi???? Mind you only seen one here in Dubai - but it was a 500 - He did not stop long enough for me to get a picture

LOL. Well I remember the first time I filled up at the station over here I didnt know what to expect. The guy was filling up for me and so I though 100 Riyals should do it (£14). I had to put it away when he said 19 Riyals!

If it makes things better I only achieved 20 mpg this morning as I was running late for work!

I was actually looking for a G500 but they are just so rare in Saudi. G55's are even rarer. Saying that i've seen two G55s in two days but no G500s. I didnt want to spend too much money so the G55 was out, and of all the G500s I saw here, they were either high miles or over priced.

This one belonged to a German National who was a Director with the Merc Dealership here, and was immaculate with 31K miles. Spec wise it was identical to the G500, and only the Engine was different. Price was good too, and less that older G500s I was looking at. It was the sensible choice, and something that could be used daily in the UK when I return.

Re: Fuel consumption

Saw 20.5mpg over a leisurely 100 mile run today - trafficky A`roads up to 60 here and there, speedcams permitting - best ever. Suspect warmer spring air helps, altho the satnav (early Comand system) seems to think it's permanently offroad at the moment and is not co-operating with directions even if it does help the mpg - any hints anyone? - the disk is in there, but she won't talk to me!

Re: Fuel consumption

an interesting aside
I was recently in the cab of a newish Scania
More buttons knobs and switches than the driver knew what was for
anyway he was trying to find out if he had enough diesel to get him back over the border,
when he inadvertently brought up the % fuel consumed whilst idling
20%
Ouch, which as a % of sub 10mpg trunking? long distance work is frightning
Obviousley the owner knew even less about the workings of his new toy than the driver did
