Re: rear window washer pipe

Hi from the pump on wheel arch scuttle in the engine bay up the n/s windscreen pillar along the top of the n/s door and n/s rear window to the jet on on the upper rear quarter..the is a flow control valve behind the n/s rear trim panel in line with the jet which clogs with coagulated screen cleaner fluid "especially washing up liquid"..remove the panel or try to prise the jet out of the panel (not very successful as the jet body hardens with age) to access disconnect and soak the valve in warm water to remove the sludge.... purge the system with warm water in the reservoir until water flows uninterrupted.....**good idea to purge the reservoir and the pump bodies if you witness lots of contaminants like black gel and flakes....

Re: rear window washer pipe

The reason I wondered about the location was I parked the G in my garage for the 1st time ever the other day , and after it had sat there for a week I noticed a very small puddle ( about 10p size ) of bright yellow/green fluid below the drivers side b pillar. It was directly below one of the exhaust clamps so I'm assuming a little bit has leaked from the pipe, and some how found its way over the interior sill & onto the floor.

This might explain the rearward damp carpet .

As you can tell from nearly all my 'tech' posts , the main probs with my G is moisture ingress   . At least I'm slowly identifying the sources :)

Hi James unless you are putting some strange coloured fluid in your washer bottle (and it is on the wrong side for the rear washer anyway) the colour might match up with your antifreeze fluid in the engine cooling system (from a pipe on the header tank) which is located close to the area you mention.....

this was just in front of the rear offside wheel so I wouldn't expect it to be coolant ( coolant level hasn't dropped at all since I got the heater valve replaced.

Hi Odd all I can suggest is match the colour of fluid to the appropriate reservoirs..could have been something you drove through collected in behind the wheel arch liner...or from the B pillar drain bung which might be partially blocked........not from the washer because the plumbing runs along the nearside.....
