When I switch off the engine of my G300TD after a long drive and then start her up again after 30 minutes, the turbo will stop working after a few hunderd meters.
Switching off the engine and then restarting solves the problem then.
The engine is not running hot and for the rest acts as normal.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Idso Brouwer.

Does it do it often? It sounds like it could be the vacuum control valve which controls the EGR valve.

Is yours an earlier G300 TD? I have heard that there was a run of bad valves.

Are your turbo hoses and air filter hoses all done up tight?

I checked everything for the past few years and it keeps coming back. I suspect it has something to do with heat, as it only happens when it is over 25 degrees celsius outside.

Hi the turbo should spool up with the exhaust efflux at all times..symptom could indicate failing bearings causing the rotor to stall..generally a much louder whine when spooling is another indication.. this generation of turbo was designed before synthetic oils were introduced and the turbo gets very hot after shutdown which may have had an adverse effect
