Excerpt from Auto week AMG interview:

What about the SLK and the G class - will they keep the current 5.5-liter Engine

For the SLK we could use the new 6.3-liter engine, but we may also raise output of the current engine. There is no decision yet. As to the G class, we are keeping the supercharged 5.5-liter V-8 for the moment, but we are conducting a feasibility study on putting the new 6.3-liter engine into it. Let me also say that we are very happy that the G class continues in production; after all, almost one-third of all G-class vehicles are AMG versions.

It would be a REAL beast! If it was like the ML –it would have over 500BHP! Better change my name to ‘Jet Esso BP McShell’ and have my own petrol tanker following me! Although…… anyone interested in buying a wife and two kids????????

What a shame, a third of all new G's destined for a life of tarmac and Waitrose car parks

Is the glass half full or half empty? That means that two thirds of all Gs will be used off the road.... or at least we hope!

It also means that Mark will have even more choice in picking up another low mileage, non-offroaded G in virtually mint condition only to thrash it in a matter of months.....
