.... or better still: name me wally of the week!

The thing is that I have endured a few months of my wife heating up my brains with a request to buy her a newer seven-seater LWB GWagen, which she wanted with EU-compliant safety belts in the jump-seats as well (shee needs this to carry aound a lot of kids, apparently). After a lot of search I could not get around to the idea of spending a lot of dosh in a second G and a little bit more on having the proper seat belts fitted to the jump seats so in the end I decided to buy her a ML320 instead. The advantage is that there are enough seven seaters of these to choose from and since I chose a petrol one, they are low mileage and much cheaper then the diesel one.

So please be lenient with me... I am a sinner and I deserve your wrath. And excuse the low qauilty of the pics... I have to work so hard to pay for the large collection of cars (and the school fees) that I can only get home at night.

The only problem you will find with a 7 seater, is that you can not fit the bolster seats required for kids under 1.5M tall. I am just getting rid of an ML, which initially had the fold down bench seats in the back – problem was under EU regulations the child’s seat must not overhang any bench seat, we then decided to get rid of them in the end (found the extra space more practical) and had the seats taken out (real waste of money in our case). I even checked with the Police and they did not know, so they checked the rules from the top. Be Careful, although judging from the LHD your police may not be as officious enforcing EU directives as ours (UK).

Hello Spiderman

I am not sure that we are referring to the same "overhang" but if you look at the first of my pictures you will see that there is none. And there is none in any of the seven seats of the car given that this was the first of the conditions in my wife's brief. Anyway, I post a few other pictures of the interior to show how clean this ML is...

No we are not!

I thought you may have got the bench seats as opposed to the full 7 seat option. we went with the 'fold down' bench seats that can fit and extra 2 -very small - kids. You should be OK with the full ones. :)

She looks a beauty, well cared for, The advice I can give you on the ML’s – I have had three to date- around 70K Miles the ball joints may need replacing, I did managed to get them to last until 90K miles, I kept getting the garage to tighten them up, however this last MOT I needed to get all four change – big ouch! On the wallet. The other advice I can give on the ML is be careful of the engine block gasket after around 80K Miles watch for leaking – can lead to very expensive fix (UK£2,900) from authorized MB garage and the 'Pre Glow plugs’ for the diesel engines, if one goes (the waning lamp will come on) get it changed as soon as possible other wise you will get a ‘domino’ effect on the others (UK cost around £800 for two). Oh yes and be very careful of the wing mirrors if you have the photo chromatic folding one – here in the UK they are £686 (the mirror is about 190 alone!) fitted – I know as the wife reversed and took one clean off!

Enjoy your ML, although you still have your G to fall back on!
