Most fuel efficient G ?
Out of interest, what model of G- wagen has been the most fuel efficient?
Not Mine!
Not Mine!
You wanna take those lead boots off   .
I'll have a guess at the G270CDI being most economical, or a 240GD if you don't drive everywhere flat out.
Hi With the ever increasing fuel prices the 230ge 460 with the crafted LPG conversion ie removal of the existing petrol tank makes it LPG only and qualifies for all the current LPG road tax and city use incentives like GBP 35 a year road tax....LPG conversions cost from GBP 900.performance is as it was with an original 230ge and it can be programmed to start on LPG so no petrol on board.I have had both 230ge and 280ge manual LPG and I am looking for a good Auto 230ge to convert.........

I don't know about that. On average, you do 28.2 mpg with a G270CDI.
not mine either! Mind you it does run on very cheap fuel :D :D
300 GDs and 270CDIs have the lowest consumption on SpritMonitor but there are not many entries to give an accurate reading.
LPG has terrible economy - its just cheap. But if you're going to get into consumption costs then WVO is unquestionably the cheapest.... free.
my 280 GEL LPG does me 150-180 miles with £30 worth of lpg(60 litres).
so its not economic but cheaper to run and alot more refined than most diesel G's
as for how much i've done with a full tank of petrol......
i ain't even gonna bother :D :D :D :D :D
(nice idea fixwin,i might rip out the petrol tank and run on lpg alone)

Cheaper? Hardly by the time you factor it takes you two tanks or so to equal the same mileage in a diesel. Plus as I mentioned if you want to start comparing alternative fuels it becomes a lot more costly than diesel when using bio/veggie at 52p litre if not free.
yes........ok maxwell but i dont want to smell of "chris's fish bar"
plus i am smoother than a 460 diesel AND quicker
and the road tax saving and zero congestion.......it all adds up buddy maxwell
Well yes the congestion charge exemption is the clincher
Cheers
Marcus
how do 463 300 GD's compare ?
Check spritmonitor.de - I've listed mine there.
You've averaged it out across all Gs of that type?
The G400 and both vipers and my G300 TD really skew the Gs. AlanMcR has the same G300 TD as me but gets much better mileage.
But you can see the G270s to seem to be the best.
I'd like to see more people using the site so we can build a better picture of overall G consumption.
Hi My 1991 LWB 463 diesel auto with TB Turbo conversion compared to the same yuear and model five speed manual without turbo revealed that the turbo G cruise was 3650 rpm at 70mph motorway whereas the manual cruise was 4600rpm at 70mph ..whatever that proves !! ie different gear ratios...turbo boost....etc
I have heard LPG conversions can cause problems ?
If the cost differential stays the same it wouldn't take too long to cover the cost
