Balancing and blueprinting a diesel.

Has anyone ever done or heard of anyone doing this ?
I know that with a petrol, you can gain 10-15% just by balancing alone. This should apply to any engine. Any thoughts ?

A diesel doesn't rev as high, so i don't think so mate.

Re: Balancing and blueprinting a diesel.
Have a trawl around the PointedThree forum, there are some threads about tuning normally aspirated diesels on there. Things like gas flowing the head, tweaking the diesel pump, free flow exhaust etc.
However as scouseg says from what I can figure, due to diesel engine characteristics, you don’t get as easy an increase as you would with a petrol. Or put another way lots of $$’s for not much return.
Got onto a site in the US where they they blueprinted and balanced a 6.2 diesel. They have done this a lot,so when I get a reply, will post here for the results. The thing with diesels is that any mods you do,they are for a long time. Obviously they must think its worth it...otherwise why would they keep doing it.Their previous rebuild lasted 350k,but they did a lot of towing with that I think. So will be interested to see what they say.
