I've just done some towing with the G loaded up, at speed (up to 60ish!!) and over hilly roads. now the Engine only got hot after a long drag up hill when I had to stop to cool the Dog off at the top.But I noticed that the entire drive train was very hot in fact the hand brake handle base was hot to the touch. The fluid levels are all OK and I don't think the rear brakes are binding. Does the G drivetrain usualy run hot? Is this normal?

Don't know about that but I know on my 300GD (463) the boot for the low ratio would get fairly hot - enough to melt a chocolate bar or keep my coffee (that space doubled as the cup holder) hot on long drive.

Cool to the touch on my current G.

on my 460 the low range shifter gets warm/hot after prolonged use ie couple hours motorway bashing at 65mph
