"Front wheel bearings "

Ye my local machanic is good and old fasioned but hates the GWagens , loves small cars.He said that when asked to give a small ones over and my first service to the Gwagen that my front wheel bearings are loose " he quoted , not to loose but need attension in the near future ". He also stated it needs special tools that he hasnt seen and said to get advice or somebody to do it. Ye could nt find anybody else to do it and managed to find a Merc mechanic that is charging me 329 Euro just to purchase the tool or (2) and still have to charge for labour over that. I said that I will then take position of this tool as he wont use it . So I am sure I am paying way over the odds , but if anybody wants to have a use of this tool can do so free of charge. This was all before I became a member here and commited with a deposit and my word, so hope its not to bad with the labour. I love my G and not being able to use it till I get this sorted is very depressing as it is staring at me in the drive. From now on I am sure the members will be able to guide me . Can that N IRELAND member please send me a email with a contact number. And Rebublick membersThank you

Re: new member

welcome to the wonderful world of G!

here is a link to how to do the front hubs complete:

Front hub

The special tool can be made using a 30mm socket and a grinder costing about £10 max( ask twodogs, it really does work!)

Cheers simon

Hi Umhloti,

Welcome to the club. Just home from the states, so missed your initial post. Lots of interest + ownership this side of the Irish sea... keep an eye out for another meeting in September\October. Always glad to see new faces.

Thanks guys for the earlier welcomes and as usual...technicals from Peter... (Fixwin38).

pm me and I'll forward numbers and contact details.

Cheers

Martin
