After lots of mucking about with the DVLA I finally picked up the G55K today...

God its fast. I think I've identified the German sense of humour

Re: Finally...

Congrats on your purchase. Did you get it from Germany? LHD or RHD? What year?

Re: Finally...

I think you will suddenly find all the other cars you drive are a bit slow..hehe especially can't be bad having a car with 50cm fording ability in this weather! An appearance at the AGM is obligatory now that you have this...I've always heard about the sound of the AMG kompressor but never experienced it in person....assuming I can make it meself!

Re: Finally...

Well its faster than my 928, which is fairly impressive

The Landy took on that role at the weekend... My feet got wet. Judging by the tank/porsche 993 like metallic clunk when you shut the doors, I suspect that wont happen on the G

Its LHD from Germany on a 56 plate, a late 2006 car with 2007 spec.

Might have to stick my head in! :D When/where is it?

Re: Finally...

You need to move you spare wheel up into the higher position. Looks better.

Re: Finally...

No, you don't want the spare wheel any higher, it'll block off the view of all those Cayennes you'll be leaving behind. Apart from the effect on the C of G, of course!
Awesome piece of kit. God, I am jealous! Was there much of a rigmarole to go through with DVLA? Any tips on bringing a pre-owned G in from Germany.

JEEP! Did you say JEEP!

A "Jeep" is a nondescript American vehicle of dubious parentage. What we have here is a "G". Sheer, unadulterated class, executed engineering magnificence, absolutely supreme in it's field. Well that's my opinion, anyway!
Whatever, it ain't no Jeep!

Q

Re: Finally...

Have to agree, I found the phrase 'Jeep' offensive when referring to my Defender... The G is a clearly superior machine

As for moving the spare, I quite like the look of it where it is! (despite not being able to see anything out of the back). Plus it means I can hitch up my Caterham trailer without worrying about smacking the shiny bits on the jockey wheel

DVLA were just timewasting. First they wanted an inspection, then they didn't, then they said we didn't send them a form they wanted, even though we did. Total inept bureaucratic nonsense. My old man actually utilised the services of his friend/client at Auto Compliance UK in Wandsworth, who found, shipped, and registered the car for us

Re: Finally...

Perhaps yours is in the higher position (it is difficult to see from the angle the photo is taken). Mine was in the lower, better vision, position. I was in St Petersburg in Dec and saw two black Gs busing along. They had the wheels in the high, you want to use the tow bar, position. I changed mine when I got back. Looks beter but does cut down on your vision.

Do you work in Reigate? I am down that way sometimes, in the week, it would be great to have a look at your G if you are around.

I attach pic of my 500.

Re: Finally...

I have never been tailgated so often in my life! The G just seems to attract these morons. Its not like I drive slowly either! Anyone else have this problem?

Next time I'm going to shout "Are you inexplicably attracted to huge, black backsides or are you just a tit?"

A friendly wave or flash of the lights would be a more agreeable way of identifying oneself

I'll take some photo's next time I'm out in it, might pop out later to fill it up with petrol (again... already  )

Clearly a novice unfamiliar with GWagen etiquette.... calling a G a Jeep!!!!!! What punishment should we reserve for such a behaviour?
