Workshop CD's
Has anyone bought a workshop CD, as advertised on Ebay?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mercedes-Benz-G-WAGON-230GD-240GD-250GD-300GD-Manu...
They seem to cover all Mercedes models.
Are they any good, or am I better looking elsewhere?
I have seen them for sale on a US site, however they are asking $129.00.
Big difference to £5.99
Thanks

ThanksHi Bollotti,
Yes I have recently just bought a copy of the £5.99 workshop CD, as advertised on Ebay and have found it extreamly helpfull.
I am currently restoring a 460 / 230ge swb and have limited knowledge on G's, the CD however has a vast databank containing various component part numbers and maintenance check list proceedures.
Installation of the CD is pretty straight forward, just follow the instructions on the install video CD (take notes unless you have two PC's to work on at the same time) and then load the second CD following all of the installation proceedures.
Please note that the CD software requires 4 Gigabytes of memory, check you have enough space before installing.
The software itself is user friendly as it has its own search engine, just type in your vehicles model, year, and Vin number.
Still getting use to it myself but for £5.99 I think you cant loose really!
Hope this information has been helpful in your decision making.
... and I found the one I "may have acquired" stopped working after 12 months, got parts and prices installed, failed to get workshop manual to run .. you had to make a dummy network connection and around that time I changed to broadband .. and even unplugging broadband and reinstalling after ripping all registry links and files out.. still had wrong key/password.. I suspect the password expires after 12 mths!
I received the DVDs last week and yesterday I attempted the installation. No surprises were encountered but I would not describe the process as “simplicity itselfâ€Â. Anyway, the system is now functional.
The program appears powerful but complicated: its workings are not intuitively obvious for the uninitiated.
I will play around and hope for the best.
I would have preferred printed material.
the printed workshop manual is like gold dust ,
I have been after one for ages .
Twodogs
Thanks for the reply.
It is alway handy to know, as I have bought similar for other cars I've had, which have proved to be of limited use.
