300 GD gearbox problem

Hi,

I've just bought a 300GD and have a problem with the gearbox.

There is no "gate" between 5th gear and reverse. Whilst I can drive okay, it is not ideal.

Is this a common problem?

Any suggestions as how to cure?

Welcome, Have a look at the rubber grommmets on the gear selector linkage. This is what went on mine, only cost around £1 each

check the selector on the transmission tunnel , sounds like thats worn .
