Some pics of my new wheels, I had only seen chrome AMG's once before, the part number is A463 401 08 02 (same as the painted AMG wheels?). Getting some locking wheel nuts tomorrow in case anybody is stupid enough to think they will fit on other mercs and half inches them (except sprinter owners :D) Does anybody know if the tyre pressures are different for these? or 32 psi same as the 15" Cheers Alex

those were on ebay werent they, on the fence on wether there too bling, im thinking colour code the bumpers, get the new style wing mirrors with the indicators and it would match those wheels much better, oh and tint the rear windows. Yea, im liking that idea.

yea but now the paint isn't shiny enough! and don't forget the arches....

I'm thinking those have been chromed aftermarket....personally I pefer the black anodised rims that were custom made for the yellow sprinter a while back. But that's just me.

Re: New Wheels

I know what you mean I was unsure about too much chrome but for that price (£520) with nearly new tyres I can live with it and get them painted/anodised etc in a few years if they go patchy, but for now sunglasses are the order of the day 8)

The rusty wheel bolts need attention though and maybe a tidy up of the bumpers (end cap missing etc) and that will do for a while

Excellent price and nothing mud and grime won't sort out...

Re: New Wheels

Thats a nice G.
If the chrome worries you,I would check into getting them slightly acid etched. This will make it a matt silver finnish instead of the full on mirror.
Talk to an electroplater and he might know the process Im talking about.

Re: New Wheels

They are too nice to mess around with for now, faultless finish even close up so I will put up with a bit of bling bling and get them painted black when I have had enough of that. In the mean time I have got every tuned up honda and ford trying to race me off the lights, I will challenge them to a speed bump course in Sainsburys car park and they will be in trouble then with 3mm clearance

Re: New Wheels

Hi,

Very nice clean G wagen. The rims were great value, good find. Wouldn't be my personal choice though,at least not without some mud on them.

Wheel locking bolts, a pet subject of mine because I end up taking off so many after the owners lose or never get the key/socket for them.

My few words of advise if its not too late, make your way down toyour local Halfords and get a set of Macgard locking bolts for your G. you can ring up and replace the key at any stage once you have the code. Oh and they are strong too.

Use the same air pressure unloaded vehicle.

Regards,

Mike

Re: New Wheels

Cheers Mike I have run them to the coast and back and they are super quiet and smooth with the Pirelli Scorpions on, don't feel the bumps as much either (already running at 32 psi same as the 15" wheels were) I have got the key to my Merc locking wheel bolts hidden in a secret location in the car, was a good set even comes with a locking nut for the spare wheel on the back door! Thanks for the advice Best regards Alex

proper "pimp my ride....!"

i like 'em. i almost got bidding on them but i am glad they went to another member

deinately colour code the bumpers and arches first. add some chrome eg,spare wheel cover,463 nudge bar also add the G500 chrome grill inserts.

i love those wheels in chrome  just take them off in the winter.

Re: New Wheels

Ok peter, they have grown on me a bit aswell so no hammerite :D I like the fact that it is a utility G with all the black bumpers and arches (and you can still stand on the bumpers without worrying about scratching them) but then the wheels really contrast against that, Its like putting adjustable seats or a rooflining in a landrover, pure luxury

Re: New Wheels

to be honest if the 90's did not have such an uncomfortable driving position, one would most likely be littering my drive now

Re: New Wheels

The bloke over the road from me has a Defender and parked side by side with the G you start to notice how much heavier duty the G is, where a landy has a steel rod on the chassis the G has a forging twice as thick and the body might not rust but there is not a single straight panel, Does its job though.

Re: New Wheels

dont even bother comparing the best vehicle in the world with that , plesae!

the only thing they share are coil springs and i bet even then the G's coils are better made!!

I filled up with petrol the other day and then realised I had left my wallet at home, attendant filled out a form with the vehicle details and what did he put? You guessed it LAND ROVER, I didn't even bother trying to correct him
