Falklands G wagon Auctions
As you may know after the Falklands war a number of G wagens all seem to be 230G long and short were capured by soldiers of the queen ,
Given CV regestration ( captured vehicle ) if used by the military, and Falklands plate ( FI )if used by Civilions .
None of the Gs were payed for so Mercedes refused parts some were sold by local auction and seem to of traveled all over the world .
Some had landrover ,and sherpa van engines fitted :? .
Today when having a look at a ex Falklands G imported in to the UK twenty two years ago the owner Bill he let me photograth his collection of photograths taken when he brought his pair of Gs at local auction , Cheers Bill .
Remember at this time the Gs weres only about four years old
If you know of any Falklands please let me know.
cheers

Twodogs,
My Diving Buddy was looking over my G, he thought it was familar but could not place it. I reminded him of his time in the Falklands in 82 and he got it! The Marines quite liked playing with the G's. He also told me that he recalled the then Colonel Nick Vaux brought one home as a momento! and got into a bit of trouble over it. I'll try to get him to ask Maj Gen Vaux (??) for the story and fate of the said G.

I sent a email to a Falklands G owner in the US below is his reply ,

Cliff -
My Argentine 230G has a VIN of 46121117013016. It was surrendered by the Argentine armed forces on 12 June 1982. I have photos of it in Port Stanley. I bought it from Robert Dibley - a British officer in the Falklands Islands war. He, as an officier could not buy it, so he had the cook buy it from British surplus and bought it from the cook. He had it shipped to London as military freight for 15 pounds. It was "restored" in England. He then had it shipped to the US as diplomatic baggage. He drove it in Micjigan for a while and then donated it to a miltary museum in Indiana. It sat there for seven years. He bought it back and shipped it to California. Having no luck registering it there, he sold it to me when I moved to Arizona. Arizona issued a new title and plates with no issues. I have owned it for three years. It is for sale.
Best Regards,
Karl
