Followed advice, smaller pulley+ belt, new rad. First radiator after fitting by the patient and stoical George Fraser, leaked and was found to have a cracked bottom hose inlet. Contacted Hella/Behr suppliers, they claimed they had had such problems before and would courier a second. Second arrived from North by overnight courier and had 150mm dia hole clean thru box and fins. 3rd only had 1 broken unnecessary plastic side lug, so fitted. Tried retaining original 85 thermo no appreciable change. So quickly changed themo for new MB supplied one before journey yesterday to West contry. Despite trying it before leaving once settled seemed to open at 95+ and thus cruised on M3 with eye fixed on needle and with heater full on managed to keep temp as close to the near horizontal line that I presume is 100. Are all parts as crappy as their latest cars, suppose they must be by implication? Have left a message on Electrical, why is the 603-D30 head fitted with 2 temp sensors, one with two pins the other with one pin? thanks Tombo

Re: Update

RE: Two teperature sensors.

The one with single pole feed a signal to temperature gauge in instrument panel, the one with two pole sends a signal to the ECU directly, so that the correct fuel is metered during warm up, and warm start up.

Thanks Rakesh for the clarity, I've posed a related wiring query under electrical if you are up on such matters. regards Tombo
