Some members may of noticed but i like Green Gs :D .
I have allways wanted a ex-military soft top G to strip down during the summer .
well I have paid for one , so a trip to Norway is on to collect my 240GD .

Chassis number WDB46131117041080

Away on Thursday , 600 mile drive to Bergen , ferry to Newcastle , then a slow drive home to DY2 .
Before you start i know it will be slow ....dont start :D
A very big thank you is in order to IVER460 from P3 forum , 50 pictures and a report ..wow .cheers mate.

Congratulations on your new G.

I cannot wait to see it in its former glory.

Just get rid of those dreadful spotlights!

Cheers

The roof rack bolts straight though the tilt and mounts onto the hood sticks .

Re: Twodogs gets an other G

WOW....what a trip , before I start many thanks to Iver460 , Tjærand, and 460332 for all your help and advise before the trip .

Three flights , Birmingham / Copenhagen then Copenhagen / Oslo, plus Oslo / Trodheim gets me there at 2100 half Norway is covered in snow ..

Meet the owner Trond good man G as advertised , Then hit the road knowing more snow is on the way the theory is to drive though the night towards Oslo to get below the white stuff ....

about 0300 pull up get my camping swag with thurmarest out in the back of the 240 and have three good hours sleep .

The G ran like a clock for the whole trip of 1000 miles the only problem was I lost dipped beam head lights in a country where you legaly need your lights on during the day it caused some problems on tunnels the longest I drove was 11.5 km all down hill .

Passed though Oslo then pushed on towards the mountains , stopped at a Hotel with one TV channel showing " chitty chitty bang bang " dubbed into Norwegian ..

Then next day the fun started up into the mountains fantastic scenary . loads of snow , and a closed road push on to Hol and find a crossing .

wow what a drive down to Bergen , a road I will never forget .
Into Bergen book into a hotel and relax .

Then the ferry a day and a half ....

UK customs checked me over no problem ( I think it was the Norwegian tempory plates ) having insured the G in the UK as an ex military vehicle , fully comp with unlimited milage for £90 i was OK to drive home .

As for Norway I will be back ,

Jeff

A webasto was an option on G's sold to cold countries. Its an auxillary heater which can be used to either preheat the car, heat the car without starting the engine, or augment the heat output when the car is running. They are fantastic devices especially with the remote if you live in cold countries.

http://www.webasto.co.uk/general/en/am_automobile_3177.html

The reason you might know of Webasto is because they also make complete sun roofs which are often retrofitted to cars in the tropics as they almost make the car a convertible...

Superb looking G. I like all the extra bits; extension on the fuel filler, storage box and the jerry can holder. Are there any blind spots? :)
