Back at last
Hi all again, following a year with an auto 280GEL '86 followed by 9 years with a wonderful 300GEL manual, (noticed currently for sale by 2nd/3rd subsequent owner), I became unfaithful. The 20 month interlude was a defection to Audi Allroads. On paper a great car, but personal bad dealer experiences and a car with no soul and after the G a very claustophobic cabin, I had to revert to type.
So I'm back with a LHD 1991 300GD, manual, dark blue (non-met), v. pleasant beige interior (last 2 were grey), sunroof, steel wheels, no spats 100K miles, 1 owner with MBhistory. As we want to undertake a 6-9 month road trip in the next 2-3 years I was determined to find my ideal. Drove it back from Antwerp a few days ago and once wound up went very well. As I try to get used to a naturally aspirated diesel (Audi v. rapid Tdi), I will doubtless bore many of you with questions as to how to pep it up a little, but there again I may delight in the calming pace, afterall it is contrary to speed with a sizable brick. It feels good. Tried to post a pic but not to deft at this medium!!!
My public thanks to Mortison.
Bye for now. Tombo
