Is ther any door adjustment at the hingeon my 280ge?

The reason for the question is I want to attend to some surface rust on underside of door - If I can simply unbolt the door with the hinge :?: and then bolt it back on again (without messing up how it lines up / closes) it would be alot simpler?

Re: Door removal??

No: when you unbolt the door you mess up the alignment .. and when you do then make a note of the number and place of the shims you take off.

Plus .. if you have any electrics you have to strip them out of their multi connector housing so that you can pass them through the grommet .. needs a little jewellery screwdriver to press the tang down.

Note sure how hard it is to realign but it does not look that hard and if it means you get a decent job it is probably worth it.

Re: Door removal??

I've just replaced 4 doors on a LWB, all electric which was a pain, but not too bad really........the shim thing is important, the aligning just trial and error but I managed on my own with no one holding the door - a jack, a plastic stackingcrate and a dustsheet did the trick...

Re: Door removal??

you carn't go wrong, to be safe use a felt tip pen to mark out the hinge before removal, so to refit with ease .
