The MOD has decided to use the BRIXMIS and BGS Gs in a recruitment campaign, over the next 12 months Mar 07 to Mar 08, operation ACE (Army Careers Exhibition) will be visiting 11 locations in England Scotland NI and Wales. the main thrust will be Inteligence Corps and Special Forces.
And the Gs will be central to the display, I will publish locations as they arise, you are welcome to go along in your G, and if you have youngsters who would like to take a look at careers in the army, they will be made very welcome. Starting in RAF Stafford this Sunday for one week.

I didn't realise they were actually taking the Gs. I thought it was just pics and stuff. That will be interesting to over hear people's comments.... "since when did MB start making cars for Land Rover?"

Ummm! Actually MB didn't......Steyr Daimler Puch did.... well in you scenario anyway. SDP , or Magna Steyr as they are now, does do the "transfer" box for the Freelander so there is a precedent, but that is by the by.

I am intrigued Bill, why would the army use obsolete, albeit superb, vehicles and "history" to tempt youngsters into the modern army which is now a very different ball-game. Could it be all the current vehicles and staff are otherwise engaged and can't be spared? ;)

Or could it be that they want to avoid the shame of showfloors stained with Land Rover recommended oil?

Delivered the Gs to the show today and saw it all set up, It drew the most interest from current serving soldiers of a number of arms. I asked the question, why. explanation, The exhibition will be visited by around a 1000 kids a day, bused in from schools Army cadets scouts etc, apparently kids are most impressed by what their dad did.
NB the REME now run Ford Ranger Pick Ups, ooo spares.

Ford Ranger Pick-Ups eh? Sensible move; cheap and cheerful, reliable and fit for purpose. Good on REME! Probably see them with Land Rover badges eventually. Only kidding!

Ah yes, Bill, the Intelligence Corps, that well known contradiction in terms. I remember them well. Actually, they were okay....just a bit different!

Well they are from the same firm, Ford, and the new ones have the same 2.5 td engine as the Jaguar and Free Lander.
