Hi, over the past week I have noticed that the gearbox when cold slips for the first 5mins or so. On going uphill it seems to slip throught he gears, finding it hard to find gear, but once warm after 5mins or so of driving its fine, kickdown good no slipping , or noises etc, is the box on the way out? any help or suggestions will be greatfuly received.

regards Frannie.

Re: gearbox slipping

Is the fluid level OK? Is the fluid in good condition? I would definitely change the oil and retest before even thinking that the gearbox might be faulty...

I agree with Jesus. Also change the filter, about £15 from Merc. Stealer. See other threads re. draining the torque converter as well.

Re: gearbox slipping

having recently changed the tranny fluid & filter, but had no joy locating the torque converter plug, i asked our technical rep afterwards and he advised using a large slotted screwdriver to turn the torque converter inside until you see the plug..there are some marks on the converter that allow for that.
