Re: In London

not sure they want to listen to tyre kickers though, no offense but to visit mayfair and ask about G when you aint spending £50+. You'll get more info here. On the other hand tell them you are Piggys new buyer and your thinking of buying several G55K's you might get a kebab out of them!!!

Re: In London

Firstly, a lot of you think, mercedes dealer in Mayfair, they can be snotty tossers, I fully expected it, the one local to me, if you go in they look at you like something they've just stepped in. So, having not planned to visit in the morning off i trundled, in cargo shorts, an abercrombie hoody, trainers, a cap on that has more holes in it then Beirut all finished off with a rucksack and a face in need of a shave.

I walked into the showroom and wandered over to the wall where the brochures are as the lady at the desk was busy, there was nothing on the wall about the g so when the desk was free I wondered up and asked if she has any information on the g-class. She went and fetched me the G55 book and then this lead on to me asking if she knew about any more g’s being imported by the dealership. She said she didn’t, but would phone Peter to see if he was free. Peter was free, and a few minutes later wandered up from below and I introduced myself and we started talking, I said I had just sold one and missed it and this is what followed.

- from next year the G400CDI will not be available (which we know) but the, better in his opinion, G320CDI would be available for import, in all shapes, long, short and drop top. For now he only knew of it being available in LHD (but so was the g55 untill there was demand) , I said that I knew quite a few people that liked the idea of the 320. prices he did not know yet, but he said, due to demand on the continent, the waiting would be around 6 months from date of order a pretty standard Mercedes figure.
- The g55 will still be available in rhd to those who want it
- We spoke about the people importing them, he said it was only Mayfair, and Caversham, I said I hadn’t heard good reports about some of the reading garages services, and he said he had heard many similar reports.
- He said he knew for certain that passenger g’s would be provided until 2010, which took us on the subject of the 461’s. he said they are available for import through Mayfair in all guises, he wasn’t sure on the prices, he said they seem to vary depending on who is ordering them, but they were available for import.

We chatted about g’s for a little while longer then I decided to leave. I am still completely impressed by the way the dealership was with me, and that they gave me their time and knowledge, a thing most MB dealerships are renowned for not doing. I would really recommend them to anyone who needs to deal with an mb dealership in the area. As for me being a tyre kicker, the retirement is getting to my dad a bit more and he is looking at the new xk jag, if he gets over his LHD phobia a 320CDI should makes its way onto the drive in SWB form instead though.

I know that’s a long post but I hope it wasn’t tedious to read,

Tom

p.s Jesus, would you like me to send you the g55 brochure to add to your collection if you have not got it, I can also scan it in with the collection of g-wizz’s I am currently working through if members would like that.

Re: In London

By the way you were dressed he probably though you had some serious luca. No one walks into MB in Mayfair dressed like that unless they are loaded. The seriously rich don't flaunt it.

He is probably waiting for you to come back and buy one of each!

Re: In London

i was thinking that, know quite a lot of stinking rich people who dont dress flash, i always find it vice versa, people who act flash have sod all. our old next door neighbour turned up in a new ferrari the other day, thing is hes nearly in prison hes in so much debt and trouble! my dad to this day still prefers his van over the other cars in the garage, maybe a 461 would do him nicely then!
