Greetings one & all!
It`s the time of year for the charity challenge outings.
I am off to southern Ireland in October to take part in the Temple street childrens hospital charity challenge, You guessed it, I am looking for sponsors!
Any ammount will be most welcome & greatfully recieved by the staff & children at the hospital in Dublin.
Can the kind hearted ones amongst you please make your cheques payable to TEMPLE STREET CHILDRENS HOSPITAL i am sure that pounds sterling will be fine for them but if you want to go euro`s thats better still!
Please PM me for the address to send donations to.
Many thanks in advance for all your assistance,
Kindest regards,
Merv!

Re: IT`S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!!

If you were to tell us where and when it was on, and what was on?

Just maybe some of us might even turn up and support you so that you might help raise even more money with your improved performance.

Best wishes,
Mike

Merv, please PM me the address, and sorry about not coming down. A 500 mile round trip with a broken rib didn't seem like fun.

Gee Thanks Merv, a phone number or even a country would be helpful in narrowing my search. Sorry, lost my mindreading gift in several pints of Guinness.
And the search goes on!!!!!!!!!

Re: IT`S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!!

Hi Mervyn,

But why so early!!!!!

No0ne will be up in Clare at that hour of a saturday morning.

On this occasion I will make the supreme sacrifice and will make the long and dangerous trip into the unknown to reach the farand distant caves on the tip of the county.

I shall be recogniseable if not from my size, from my UK reg G wagen to my kids learning how to dismantle various jeeps and rebuilding them with enough parts left over to build an earthmover.

Best of luck on your challenge.

Regards,

Mike

P.S. I might be nice if other g wagen owners saw this and turned up too!!!

Re: IT`S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!!

Good to see the tyre man up bright & early when we eventualy got to the start in west eire, our boat was delayed thanks to force 10+ winds & a very lively sea! The worst part of the trip was navigating round a minefield of diced carrots whilst attempting to avoid an encounter with lots of green zombies roaming the ship corridors & no sleep.
Landed at 0630 & disembarked at 0700 then hell for leather to Aill Well cave two & a half hours later.
Started well with the rule sheet, said nothing about `no cheating` so we had an advantage to start with. Had a steady drive around the Burren, A large collection of large hills, with a lot of tracks & wonderful views at every turn. Forgot we were supposed to be looking for answers to various clues as we ended up charging around the countryside snapping everything in sight like a couple of Japanese tourists!
Went from co Clare to co Mayo where the fun started with a farmer who didnt appreciate his Saturday being disturbed by 4x4 cars & locked all the gates so no-one could get in or out! After a lot of negotiation with the farmer who we found out has a child at Temple street hospital, the benifactor of our efforts, then we were on our way again.
Our next stop was a camp site at Lough erne, food, bar & elvis tribute! (thanks for making the trip from mid wales to keep us amused.)
Next day started with a simple instruction ~get to this map ref for further instructions. Off we go & an hour layer we end up at a quarry at donnegal with a terrific 4x4 course laid out with a bit of everything. Mud, Hills, Side slopes, Trees & so it continued for a couple of miles. Poor chap in his 06 reg discovery ended up in a pickle wedged up against a tree with all his electonics getting dazed & confused trying to sort out the traction control & suspension, so it gave up on its driver & decided to do nothing for the rest of the day except play up with raising & lowering the suspension at the most inconvenient times.
From there we headed to yet another map ref to be greeted with tulip maps & 30 miles of forrest tracks. Marvelous! another photo opportunity! & what photos we took, simply stunning scenery allbeit a bit murky then on to the Slieve Russell Hotel for a touch of r&r at the end of the event & maybe a gallon to much Guiness & deffinatley lots of `craik`.
Thanks to the small number of members who sponsored me in this event & added to the end total of 30,000 euro which the group managed to amass for the very worthy cause, Temple street childrens hospital, Eires answer to Great ormond street.
Thanks again.
P.S. Photos can be seen at www.g-classcentre.co.uk in the gallery section under Mervs exploits.
