My fuel gauge is also mis behaving as well as my temp gauge now, i was sitting in a traffic jam yesterday with my temp off the scale one end & the fuel off the scale the wrong end the other. I know i had petrol & though it may well have been a bit hot it was certainly not steaming anywhere. Just a bit of a worry when you have no where to escape to in a jam.
Does this sound like an earthing problem to you?
How does the gauge come out to check?
Any advice gratefully recieved.

Fuel & Temp gauge

try pullling out the bezel and wiggiling the large white plastic multi plug on the back of the bezel. I had a similar problem, fuel and temp go to zero but when I pulled the bezel out a bit they work fine.
