Hi all,
I know this has been around a number of times but not been able to find the correct links... so how do I remove the viscous fan? Have attached picture if someone could offer advice , please?

God bless these old wagons - 50% success so far in shearing bolts whilst removing steering guard and radiator brackets, and weren't they fun to reach! But will change water pump and fit Kenlowe (need to, need the truck on the road!?!)
Cheers,
Stewart

Re: Removing a viscous fan... how?

On the first picture you have posted, there is tag at a 12 O'clock position, at either end of the tag are" flats" to which a 32 mm or 37mm spanner fits.

I think the fan will undo in the normal fashion, i.e. anti-clockwise direction. You may take off the fan belt and use a large pair of water pump pliers with some padding to hold the pulley and an assistant to undo the fan.

Alternatively, underneath the shaft of the water pump using a small mirror find a small hole at a 6 O'clock position. Using a short screw driver, insert this into the hole and rotate the pulley so the screw driver locates into the pump shaft and locks the pulley. Once locked, undo your fan.

This post from the AGOA Forum might help with how it works although I think our Australian delivered vehicles had a different waterpump and viscous hub. Similar though.

Hope it helps
