Power Steering - fittings sizes *UPDATED WITH PICS*
Anyone know or take a guess at what the size/ types of fittings are ? Looking to replace all the rubber and old steel lines with new hi-pressure braided nylon and new steel (I'm doing this now rather than replacing with MB solution because it will make future swap out to OM606 easier).
I've tried to find a spec for the LS2 box, and pump, but no luck so far. I'm looking for:
Type and size of :
Steel line > steering box fittings: one of the hoses is 12mm, the other 10mm, both steel with male fittings that look like AN- but may well not be).
The other aternative is to switch out the 90degree fitting that is screwed into the LS2 casing and replace with something else.. in which case what size thread for these?
Steel lines > steering pump - same question.
This is a question for Mercedes Technical to answer. Should they decide to answer, and they do not answer quickly either, I will report back.
Cheers,
The wonderfull LS2 [since 1960,up to 6.5 tonners] has particular fittings which even baffled Axel for an hour...hard to remove or reangle..study picture..does not disassemble as you wd think..all other fittings are catalogue at yr local pipe place
Thanks Rakesh, I can't imagine that they don't use a standard size. When you say 'won't be quick' - what does that mean typically? days, weeks or worse?
Threads are easy enough to measure, but angles on the male ends aren't and from what know its easy to get JIC/AN fittings mixes with leaks the result.
