New Classic G Wagen Owner in Limerick Ireland
Hi All,
New G wagen owner here in Linkerick, Ireland.
Just saying hello and a thanks straight of the bat for all the great info I've found here on the forms, invaluable during my search. I'd been looking for a G for some time. As you all know it's not easy to find one that ticks the boxes when cost is taken into account.
Now for some details,
1982 LWB 460 Black 280 automatic 4 speed.
Clean tan and black and tan tartan interior.
VIN 46023327021908
Purchased from a GWOA member near Driffield, east of York.
I plan to fix a few things over the coming summer but not too much wrong. There are always issues with a 30 year old vehicle. Saying that it did the 500 mile plus trip back to Ireland on day one...
Then a major spray in a year or so. Currently has a number of sprayed strips that I do wonder if they were after market additions. Did MB do custom paint jobs back in the day?
I'm currently driving it ~5k a day now just to get to know it. I'll take a few pics as I generate questions during my work.
Anyway must get back to work.
All the best,
Shaun

Welcome aboard DeepSub..
The Irish G contingent seems to be 'resurging' again. I'm in Waterford area - with a 91 G 300D. Never let me down once, starts first time and will drive through anything. Yera - the G is a great bus and sure what else would you drive in the weather we've had in last few weeks ??
Good luck with the new purchase.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I'm looking forward to picking your brains about a few things. Hopefully the questions will all make sense.
So to start, as a total newbie;
Can I get the top 5 things to check with the understanding that it did 500 plus miles and starts on the button. Even bullet points as I can search the form for the major details.
My plan is to use the G as a learning tool. To complete services and the like myself, I find it a great stress reliever.
