On my W460 the 2 horns are clearly visible through the grill.

Can they be relocated so they are out of sight and is it an easy job??

Thanks.

Re: Moving the Horn

they are where they are for a very good reason,so they are above the wading line and have an interrupted path for their sound, i have relocated horns on quite a few g 's to make room for an intercooler.

either extend the wiring or keep within the constraints of the original length and move them to the ends of the front bumper where it meets the chassis legs (one at each end) or if you have the factory fog lamps fit them behind the large lamp holders - basically put them where you want and bend up brackets to suit but be mindful of making them vulnerable to becoming immersed in water or hit /damaged by off roading /although g wagens are quite a large vehicle you will find the alternative positions for relocation of the horns limited - as i said they have been put at their factory location because it is the best place- if you do not like the look of them where they are, give them a fresh lick of paint RAL9011 (satin finish) and this will make them 'morph' into the grill .

Re: Moving the Horn

The ML has the horns mounted under the wheel arches.   Out of sight, out of mind, and out of hearing as they need replacing every couple of years when the terminals corrode through.   So I remounted mine.   Guess where?   Behind the grille just like the G Wagen.   Sprayed with Hammerite satin black you can hardly see them, but you can hear them, which is a big improvement.

I have seen cars with the horns mounted on the bulkhead, so I guess you could mount them on the heater airbox facing forwards, but you'll need to run the wires a long way.   There aren't many other positions where you can discretely fit them in when you think about the drawbacks of the likely places.
