Tired of the looks of your G?

Fancy a coupe, but still want to keep the G?

Not pulling any birds with your G lately, are you?

This is what you need:

Nice bum, eh?

I love the transfer case lever and those three diff lock buttons in the centre console:

And it's got room in the back for the in-laws!

The big black pair of "nuts" to the right are vacuum reservoirs.

This beauty was sold for some £ 10,000 a few months back by MBATC.

I just love it!

After the good advice from Max I have rehosted the pics somewhere else..... now you can see them 8)

I wish I could take that one to a good old off-road site to show to all the Land Rover folks the things it can do!

Now, let's see what you think!

I think I would much rather the Mercedes "GLK" of Jim Rogers

Well done Jesus and many thanks - now we can all see what you meant. Was well worth the wait!
Very interesting just looks a bit out of place - an estate body with a more upright and boxy look would have looked rather nice though in my opinion...
ie I prefer the gelaendewagen proper

Oh no, Max, that is a total waste!

The history 300 CE conversion of my pics appears that a guy rolled over his beloved G and faced with the cost of a new body shell -at a time when a second-hand one was virtually impossible to source- he decided to go cheap and adventurous at the same time.

What Jim Rogers did resembles the acts of any self-deserving spoilt brat. Take a brand new G300 Turbodiesel and another brand new SLK320 -both donated by MBUSA, by the way- and spend big bucks in paying for that horrendous bastardisation. Of course Mr Rogers has loads of money to burn but to me what he did is almost tantamount to crime. Why cancel the roomy advantage of the standard GWagen bodywork? What about its lovable aesthetics? Just to "be seen" in all the places he went? He could have done that in an ML.

To me it does not make sense to compare both conversions. One was an ingenious was to salvage a GWagen chassis while the other was a total economic waste which brought no apparent practical benefits.

I admit that this posting might be a bit too harsh... but I have very strong feelings against this playing Dr Frankenstein.

Your opinion, please?

Ahhh well I never realised that that was the story behind the 300CE.

And yes I agree with you about the GLK. Better to buy a cabrio.... which I'm working on.

Well I interviewed Jim rogers back in 99 in henley for the club magazine. The mans megger rich amd only had a driving licence two years previous if I remember. He went round the world on a motorcycle first then fancied it again. His original choice was a porsche body to go onto the G wagen chassis but the wheel base was wrong. He never told me how much the conversion cost, I think he was sponsered to a degree. The peope who did the conversion were the same people who made the ML for Jurassic park movie.

Personally I did'nt like the guy much. but close up the car was well made and the trialer was pretty cool. if you got it flaunt it, I liked the car.
