how to seal your windscreen and stop it leaking.
Hi all, just thought I would let you know about my most recent success. I had my truck resprayed earlier in the year, the guys broke the windscreen removing it, they duly got a new screen and the 'experts' came to refit it using the original rubber. Very happy until it rained and the cockpit flooded, the experts returned and pumped aload of goop into the void, fine until it again rained and then another flood. This time i decided to sort it myself-removed all the goop the experts had pumped in with a wooden scrapper and airline then filled gap between rubber and windscreen surround with Sikoflex (which is a marine grade adhesive sealant £10:00 a tube) whilst wet removed the excess with white spirit. Next time God decided to wash my G the inside remained dry. Hope the info helps, remember Sikoflex- it is the best and only sealant I would use on my boat, available in various colours.

I'm sure you meant well doing this and will cure your problems for now but..............congratulations on bonding your windscreen in...have fun cutting it out if it ever needs removing/replacing!
theres a reason why "experts" use a sealing agent that is semi setting and can be removed with a solvent
mick "broke a windscreen form a g wagen last week that some bodger had bonded in" the digger!
This is what I got to deal with
Thought I was upgrading (sadly it needs a lot more work than I realised)
Did you get a MB OEM windshield or is it cut to fit?
And dare I ask what is wrong with just purchasing a new seal? It should normally be replaced together with the windshield and it only costs a few quid...
In 8 years of G ownership have never had a leaking windscreen.
Mine leaks too- really annoying . im thinking of running a bead of silicone sealant around the entire screen under the rubber seal.
Gs rust badly around the screen due to this problem.
Hi all , you can buy the lower screen panel from mercs for about £350 , or if you have a good welder get him to weld a new beading along the bottom edge but make sure all the old rust is removed then red oxide it before painting , cheers stevo
point taken however i would rather have dry electrics and a dry cockpit-if i need to spend an hour one day removing cured sealent prior to replacing the seal/windscreen then i will curse myself then, i lived with a leaking screen for 6 months prior to the permanent fix with all the stinky carpets not to mention shorted out relays and corroded fuses so thanks for the advice, too late for me my seal is well and truely stuck for ever.
