Hi evereyone...

New to the club and forum and i am impressed so far!!! I only browsed to avoid the damn over hyped wedding!!!
Recieved my welcome pack today which contained more info and stuff than i expected so well happy.
I look forward to more chat and info from the site and forum as my needs develops.
A liitle about myself and my g wagen history...
I have owned two previously a '81 460 280ge lwb (m110) and a '84 460 300gd lwb (om617)  in the last ten years.
I have worked and still work within the MB dealer network since leaving school (24 years) and have a passion for all MB products but in
particular the glorious "G" which i had the luck to run a 463  300ge swb (m103) as a brand new demo in '91/'92.
I also have a strong interest in classic cars, mainly british triumph's and mg's of which i have restored approx 12 over the last 12 years or so.
However a late but growing family has binned the 2 seater convertible models and a more versatile (sensible?) toy is now required!!!
Enter a new G? I am looking at the minute but i am in last stages of hammering out a deal on a '86 230ge swb (m102) which hopefully
will be trailered Doncaster bound on Saturday.
As a last note my MB background may be of interest or use to some of you...I worked from '87 till '02 in a joint PC & CV dealer but since '02
i have been all CV. I guess MB class the G as a PC product but i still have access to a lot of info old and current and can always ask a question given a day or three. I understand that a lot of people have a healthy fear of dealer networks but if you find a good one or a good person they can be very good. In the past i have always taken extra interest in any G enquires and have helped many customers upgrade / restore G's back to life. If any member needs any help in Parts Interpretation that is my forte and although alot of the dealers are also scared of the product i am not and do understand it!!! I can help with part number enquires and also possibly prices etc and ,maybe even some parts supply. It always amazes me how some parts are expensive but alot are also very reasonable and sometimes unless you ask you will never know!!!
I have to be carefull that i dont get overloaded with enquires as i do have a life and a job!!! and a G to restore hopefully...but if i can help i will even if it is just advice or a second opinion on what you have been told or quoted?
Sorry for the long ramble and look forward to future contact with some of you.

Thanks
Gav

Re: Hello to all from Yorkshire newbie

Welcome!  A  bit of a hidden gem.
There are some great G advocates and experts here - despite owning my '87 G203GES for 20 years though, I havn't needed much real help. Yet.  However I have a feeling I need to do a bit of catchup during this year since I am using the G daily again after many years as a spare and I want to cycle round some maintenance work.
Good luck with the restoration.
