Has anyone got a working sender unit that would fit a '94 463 they would like to sell.  They are on back order with MB and I am getting a bit fed up trying to guess how much fuel I have left. Thanks.

Re: Fuel tank sender unit wanted.

Hi

If you let me have your chassis number i could check to see if you are getting the right info.

I have just checked a 92 Petrol and a 95 Diesel W463 chassis numbes i have and the two types

i come up with MB dont have stock in the UK butt do have stock in Germany

A009 542 67 17 £137 + VAT

A009 542 07 17 £216 + VAT

A dealer should get one within 48 hours for you if they tried.

It may be a different part number for your chassis but i will check it if you post or PM me it

Thanks

Gav

Hi Gav, my chassis number is    WDB46322827082474

If you could confirm that the sender unit is available in Germany then I will get back on to my local MB dealer and suggest he tries a bit harder, thanks.

Re: Fuel tank sender unit wanted.

Hi

You must have the luck of the Irish!!! When i need something and there are 2 prices it is always the expensive one!!..

You need part number A009 542 67 17 at £137.00 + vat. You should be able to get 10% to 20% even from Germany.

MBAG (Germany) have 27 in stock at their GLC (Global Logistics Centre) in Germersheim and have sold 6 in the UK this year.

The EPC says that the sender has been modified and has an additional pipe to supply an axiliary heater and if you do not have that
you have to blank it off with the following parts N916030 000506 PIPE X1 £10.40 + vat N000007 006233 PIN X1 £0.60 + vat
 N916033 011100 HOSE CLIP X2 £1.40 each + vat,
basically a 40mm length of 6mm ID hose (you have to buy 1mtr) and a 6mm dia x 10 long steel pin to
blank the end off and 2 11mm hose clips to fix it. You may have the axiliary heater, you may buy the parts or you may solve that issue
yourself!!
As for the dealers it winds me up...it's a good job were not in a recession and their jobs don't depend on these sales!!!!
To quote a phrase ....Its a G Wagon ..."the computer says no!!!!"
What part of the country are you? I may be able to influence the dealer with the discount!!!

Hope this helps

Re: Fuel tank sender unit wanted.

Hi Gav
Thanks for that information. I spoke with the dealer this morning and he has ordered the parts that you mentioned. I got a 10% discount after a bit of haggling. They are quoting a 5-7 day delivery.

My nearest MB dealer is in Inverness and involves a 90 mile round trip. However I dropped in this morning armed with the information you supplied and asked why I had been told something entirely different on the phone. Strangely enough no one seemed to be able to remember my phone call however the parts manager appologised and quickly put my order through so I decided not to complain any further.

Interesting that you mention an aux heater that is fed petrol via a pipe from the sender unit , sounds a little bit dangerous.

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

Hi

No worries...glad your getting sorted.

The "Mr Nobody" phone calls are a common occurance!!!

The sender is the same as listed on the diesels so probably applies more to that about the aux heater.

Is it a J.R.Weir dealer or a Westerns? Just out of interest.
